Supporter’s Review
Firstly, I would like to say how sorry we are to lose Nicola McLaughlin from our Supporters group. Nicola has had to resign due to family commitments and we miss her commitment and enthusiasm. We hope that she will be able to re-join us at some point in the future as there are now only 3 of us Linda, Ed and Sandy plus Angelina who looks after the Bonus Ball fundraising.
However, there is always room for more members, so if you would like to join us or if you have any fundraising ideas, please do let us know. All are welcome.
Over £2100 was raised this year from the fundraising events below:
We held a Disco and silent auction in the Phoenix Club in June which was really well supported. This raised £469 most of which came from the silent auction items. Thanks to all the companies who donated and to everyone who made a bid. A great time was had by all including hot dogs and chips for everyone!
Also, we raised £182 from a cake stall on the high street. Thank you for all the donations of cakes. We will hold another cake stall at some time in the future.
Jill Frost offered to run a Gin Tasting Evening in August and this was very well supported raising £363. Many thanks to Jill for this and we are looking at arranging something similar.
Unfortunately, the weather was not kind to us for our annual Firework display at Lydiard Park this year. The decision was made to proceed with it and it actually went very well but with dramatically reduced crowds hence we did not receive any money this year. However massive thanks to everyone who came to help us.
At the end of November, we ran a tombola stall with a Spin the Wheel for children at the Christmas Lights event on the High Street which made £511, an increase of approx. £100 from previous year.
Again, the Bonus Ball fundraiser did not raise as much this year but has continued to make a profit of just over £660. If you would like to join or would like further details, please contact Angelina Sandle or your section leader.
We have also received £882 from the Vodafone Matched Funding Charity Scheme thanks to Matthew Nicholls. Vodafone will match up to £350 a quarter for fundraising events that Matthew participates in.
During the year Supporters have contributed over £5000 for the toilet block renovation and also bought a fridge, microwave, and cooker for the kitchen approx. £400.
We appreciate your continued support with these events. We are always looking for more helpers and new ideas, so please let us know if you can help – we really need your help!
